Frequently Asked Questions

On the Island

WILL I SEE A LOT OF BUGS ON BABOON CAY?

Yes, although most are not a problem. We primarily have sand flies which are tiny flies that bite like mosquitoes. When there is little or no breeze, they come out. Mosquitos can also be found,  although they are not as prominent on the island as they are on the mainland. We suggest bringing bug spray and some clothing for the evening that can cover your legs and arms.

WHAT CLOTHING DO YOU SUGGEST I BRING TO BABOON CAY ECO- RESORT?

Daytime on the island calls for shorts, t-shirts, bathing suits, wraps, hats, and sandals. The evenings can get cool, depending on the time of year due to the sea breezes and long days spent in the tropical sunlight. Light slacks and long sleeve shirts and blouses or a windbreaker would keep most visitors perfectly comfortable.

From December to March, the weather can get cold so please bring proper clothing. Although the islands off Pearl Lagoon get less rain than the mainland, we still recommend a rain jacket for the unexpected downpour.

For exploring the island and possibly other islands, we suggest a good set of walking shoes or sandals. If you’re not going off the beaten path, then sandals are just fine.

WHAT IS THE RESERVATIONS POLICY AT BABOON CAY ECO-RESORT?

Baboon cay requires a 50% deposit at the time of confirmation. The balance is due 15 days prior to arrival. Baboon Cay Resort accepts Visa and MasterCard.

DO YOU WELCOME FAMILIES AT BABOON CAY ECO-RESORT?

Yes! We are open to all ages. Just be sure to bring child safe sunscreen and bug repellant for them and keep a close eye on them near the water!
